Thank you to everyone who responded to my inquiry about a decadron rash. I took my husband in yesterday and he has shinkles. Apparently that is quite common as the chemo and decadron lowers your immune system which increases your chance of shinkles which is a virus that lies dorment in your body after chicken pox as a child. When your resistance is low this virus can "wake up" and cause shrinkles. I am telling you all this as it is much easier to treat if diagnosed within 72 hours. I waited too long so it may be more difficult to treat.

Glenda, thanks for the warning. I know shingles are very very painful, so we'll definitely pay attention to it if there are any signs.

Shingles is awful! My mother also had shingles 6 months prior to diagnosis. I honestly believe she suffered more from shingles than brain cancer, except the fact that brain cancer took her life.
Where is your husband's shingles located? How old is he? It is definately hard to treat. Let me know if you have need any info. I dealt w/ it for nearly a year. I was her primary caregiver. Best of luck to you, Maria
