Efudex and dark circles under eyes

I used Efudex in May 2009 with very few problems. The main spot the doctor was concerned about appears to have been successfully treated. During the treatment the area under my eyes swelled up and turned red...looked pretty bad. The doctor prescribed a steroid cream for the area. The swelling went down and redness faded but I have had dark circles ever since...Just wondered if anyone else had this experience and if they are ever going to go away.
