I am so happy to tell this story.  My son whom was 38 when we found his cancer, has gone thru two brain surgeries, 66 radiation treatments, and 25 chemo treatments, has got clear scans.  He lost his right eye, and has been thru so much.  I wanted to post this because I know there are not so many happy stories out there for this type of cancer, and we wanted to give hope to those of you that have this.  We are blessed.  mom of son.

It is so good to hear this.  My husband was 51 when diagnosed with SNUC of maxillary sinus.  He did not need to have surgery, but had 39 IMRT and 3 round of chemo with 5FU and Cisplatin.  Terrible side effects from the chemo and radiation-mouth sores, nausea, weight loss, bilateral pulmonary emboli, had feeding tube after 50# weight loss, vision problems with (R) eye, etc.

But he just had his 18 month PET scan and no cancer seen.  The doctor actually told us that "I don't think you realize how lucky you are."  Most people don't survive this"

You need to be aggressive.  He was treated for 2 months for a "sinus infection" before he was finally diagnosed with SNUC.  He kept saying, something is wrong-this is not a sinus infection-finally had a CT scan and the tumor was seen.

Best wishes for continued good health for your son.

Kathy

Kathy, so glad to hear of your news!  My son is now 4 months out and had his MRI and Dr. said they are clear.  He is feeling great and is doing some things again around the farm.  It has changed us all though.  Our family looks at life much different now.  We are so grateful for Troys life and that he has fought so hard and been so brave.  His Dr.s told him they are just amazed at how well he has done.  We are blessed.  I too am a cancer survivor 7 years out now.(colon)  Thank you for telling me your story.  It gives us so much hope and encouragement. I pray that all continues to go well for your husband.  Deborah
