My Life Partner

My life partner is 57 years old.  He is about to undergo Bladder and prostate removal.  They are going to make a neo-bladder from part of his bowel?  Were awaiting the surgeon consult to see what all is entailed in this surgery.  Can anyone share any experiences with this surgery.  As a caregiver, I am concerned with Staph infection and or complications to look out for.  I will be by his side 24/7.  Please help me to help him overcome the anxiety of what is going to happen to him.

Anyone with any related information is greatly appreciated.

 Thank you, Rollerbaby

i am 54, i had this done last year, BUT, i opted out of the neo bladder for the reason that you listed, infection, a woman told me about a man that had all kinds of problems with infections with the neo bladder, i also did a whole lot of research on it, i decided against it, problems with incontinincy, longer and more complicated surgery, longer recovery time, and being 53, and hoping to live to be older, i thought as i got older, lots more problems would arise,  but that is just my view, would be glad to answer any questions you have, hope it hasnt spread to the lining, mine did, i am doing fine, even though they didnt give me a chance
