Melanoma advice please

Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with stage 3b melanoma three months ago. My primary was a level 2 mole I had removed from my shoulder two years ago. It metastisised in my neck two years later while I was pregnant. I have had a radical neck dissection and radiation therapy since being diagnosed. Surgery and treatment took place just after I had a baby....

Now that I am over the initial shock and stress of the diagnosis and prognosis I am trying to find the best possible next step. All I have really been offered by the oncology team at my melanoma clinic is 'surveillance' in the form of 3 monthly CT scans, which just doesn't seem good enough when you have two young children.

My doctors tell me that interferon has very difficult side effects and is not very effective on melanoma (only works on about 3% of patients they told me), I don't qualify for any clinical trials because I have had radiation and this will confound the results of the trial. So this doesn't leave much as far as conventional treatment is concerned.

Does anyone out there have any experience they can share with me about the use of laetrile, resveratrol or any other forms of treatment for melanoma?

I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully beaten this dreadful cancer or anyone who is doing well in spite of the poor prognosis they give us.

Thanks for reading
Sharon

Just want to say my son in law was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma and was given 6 months in 2005.  They wanted him to go to MD Anderson in Houston for Kemo treatments.  He decided not to go this route.  I had heard of Dr. Bruzynski in Houston.  He came to Houston and went to Dr. Burzynski and started treatment.  No radiation and just a FEW kemo pills to get it under control.  We paid for the medicines (very expensive)  and he done his followups and treatments for about 1/2 year.  He didn't like the taste of the medications, but done it for awhile.  We had already heard of B-17 (lateril) apricot kerenels.  My husband was working with a man who was eating them for his colon cancer the size of a baseball, which had already shrunk to size of a pea(within 3 to 4 months) while eating these kernels.  We got our son-in law on apricot kernels and told Dr. Burzynski about the apricot kernels.  The dr. said to keep taking them, but never went into any detail because I don't think they could because of the US Governent watchnig over them.  They didn't say NOT to take them, just to keep on and the apricto kerenels wouldn't hurt anything.  Well, long story short. My son-in-law was young (23) at this time and got tired of the treatments.  He moved back to San Antonio and quit taking the Dr. Burzynski treatments, because of his being youngand the money.  However, he kept eating the apricot kernels.  It's now been 4 years and he's still doing fine.  He got a scare here while back and went to his doctor because he though his lymph nodes were swollen and his cancer was back.  The test showed...NO CANCER.  So, he's still eating the apricot kernels and is cancer free and it's been 4 years....and they only gave him 6 months with stage 4 melanoma.  All I can say is I don't care what some of those people say, I've seen it for myself.  It has worked for 2 people we know of.  Posion...Not to the people i know who took it.  My daughter also ate some just for precaution and she's just fine.  I have some on order now and will be eating them when they come in.  Melanoma is bad, and he was not given a very good outlook, but here we are 4 years later.  Dr. Burzynski is great.  I heard Suzanne Summers is going to him, and she even mentioned that Patrick Swayzy should of gone to him, he might still be alive if he had.  I'm not saying only apricot kernels, but Burzynski does know what it takes.  Don't go Kemo, or radiation. There's other alternatives...check out all of them and don't  go the  conventional way.

Also, forgot to add.  My son-in-law has a friend who has leukemia.  He went the conventional route (about 4 years ago..the same time he found out he had melanoma).  Kemo, and didn't really want to hear about our Son-in-laws route with Dr. Burzynski and his eating apricot kerenals.  Anyway, a few months ago this guy was told by his Dr. to go home and they couldn't do anything more for him. They have given him all the Kemo he could take and his leukemia was out of hand....so go home and die.  Well, he got with our son-in-law (finally) to see what he was doing.  He wanted him to tell him what he was doing and he told him about the apricot kernels and (shots) like whiskey shots of this vitamin B-17.  So he started taking them and He went back to his doctor and his doctor asked what he was doing because his reading were WAY down.  Thousands lower than they were and the Dr. acutally asked him what he was doing because things had changed.  He didn't  tell him and he plans on keeping on doing what he's been doing.

Please be careful on how many apricot kernels you eat. When you don't need them you shoul not take them. As in natural medicine as well as Western you can make yourself sick with lack of knowledge. I think the laetril is great and it worked but you have to read up about it yourself, do not rely only on word of mouth. These items have cyanide in them. A little can be ok for disease but please be careful about using them as a preventative. There are much safer and natural ways to help boost your immune system than that. Remember Western Medicine has its place just like natural medicine. Take Care. MMS
