i have stage iv renal cell carcinoma. 6 years ago I had my left kidney removed. a large tumor has metasized into my paratrachea area.  i am to start high dose radiation for 2 weeks (cyberknife) every other day. they are using a 4dct to get exact positioning.  Anyone heard of this? Also I have been on Afinitor for 18 days only side effect a itchy rash and tiredness.  Any advice on the rash?

Sorry to hear your news, but I'm encouraged that you're 6 years in your fight.  I take care of my father-in-law who was just diagnosed in Aug.  His prognosis is not good because the cancer is in his brain, lungs, spine, kidneys, lymph nodes......etc.  He is receiving palliative care.

He started Afinitor 11 days ago and is not eating anything solid.  Lots of diarrhea and nausea.  I've been looking for anyone who is on this drug to see what's coming next.  He hasn't had a rash.  Have you tried Aveeno in your bath?  Can't hurt.  Maybe your onc can provide a topical cream to help.

Please let us know if the Afinitor is effective for you.  I'll be praying that it is!  Hang in there!

After 2 weeks on the Afinitor I could begin to feel the tumor shrinking.  I did 5 high dose sterostatic radiation treatments and on the 3 one the scans were already showing shrinkage of the tumor that previously would not shrink for 8 months.  I am told the shrinkage could continue for about a month after the last radiation treatment.  I am sooo excited.  I am tired from Afinitor and have a very itchy skin rash.  Radiation made me tired also, but I have new hope. i have such faith in my drs. and the staff is unbelievable.  I tried an oncologist in a small town and was not happy with the care.  I am so glad I went downtown to the big city.
