bladder cancer? removing the tumor is not so bad, no surgery involved, have a catheture for a few days afterwards, Hopefully it hasn,t spread to the bladder lining and lymphnodes as mine did, and from there to my ribs and lungs. if it has spread, they will have to remove the bladder, i had all this done, and fairly cancer free now even though they did not give me a chance at all, be glad to tell you anything you want to know, Dave

i was given the choice of not having it removed, but said i probably wouldn,t make it a year, though after i had it removed they told me the same thing, having the bag i thought would be horrible, isn,t that bad actually, has some advantages in a way, I asked the same question to my Doc when i was declared cancer free in June, did i really have to have my bladder removed since the chemo did work? said it would reoccur, it is a major decision for sure, i researched the plusses and negatives of an Ostamy pouch or a neo bladder then, with the neobladder, much more complicated surgery, longer recovery time and problems with incontincy afterwards, i am 54, wasn,t like giving up and planned to live to be older, and i thought in my older years will be alot of problems with this, i am active, well when i aint on the fricking chemo, go 4 wheeling. and a neobladder sure wouldn,t work doing that, bouncing all around, be peeing my pants all the time

oh and as far as having it out and the cancer not reoccuring, depends if it has spread to the lymphnodes, if it has not, pretty good chance of that being the end of the ordeal, no chemo or anything, just follow up checks, my surgery was in Sept 2008, removed bladder and all the surrounding lymphnodes they could, by the time i started chemo in Dec, cancer had spread to my ribs and lungs, you sure don,t want that, never been in such pain in my life as i had in the ribs, gone now though!!

dave,

how are you doing know?  he got the results from the biopsy and they said that they found another kind of cancer and that they are going to have to go in and do the same procedure again and then find out what they are going to do then. keep in touch please you have a very postive attitude.

thanks
