Does anyone have a experience with this?  Is this normal.  He went for a scan yesterday and the doctor just called him and wants to see him today.  I read online that its not uncommon but I would like to know if anyone else experienced this.  My father has had no side effects and still works everyday with stage IV colon cancer......

Thank you all for you help.

Yes my husband had the same thing year ago and we had to take him to the hospital on the advice of our PC Dr.  They started an IV right away and to be honest  they just observed him for 5 days then he went home, and still is on Warfin (blood thinner) they just have to be careful and not do anything that could be dangerous to them bike riding falling  cutting themselves and so on,   He was on Avastin for long time and the drug side effect can cause blood clot, just have to watch him and follow your Dr. Advice

I had a blood clot in my lung discovered after a CT scan. I have been using Lovenox shots (not fun) since they found it. I was without symptoms and I still have none. I'm going to try to get switched over to Warfarin. Not loving the shots.

Thank you all for your replies.  He is starting on the shots today so I hope he can handle them okay.  He gets the results of his scan on Tuesday I am praying for good news again.  They are saying the cancer is shrinking the last 2 times so we are hoping its continuing.

Same thing happened to my husband after all the cancer treatments.  Multiple pulmonary embolis is right lower lobe.  Was intially on fragmin injections but that was a PIA to get auth from the insurance to pay for those, so currently on warfarin.  Minimum treatment was 6 months when they find clots.  The only really side effects I've noticed is beat red/flushed looking skin.  If you get a little cut, you bleed like a stuck pig though.
