stage 4 rcc options

My dad was diagnosed with rcc in feb. 07 with large tumor on left kidney (inoperable) and spots on liver and in lymph nodes all over.  We had success with Nexavar for 2 years before tumors started to grow and was on Afinitor for about 4 months and that is not working.  Just last week had a ct scan done because he was having swelling in lower back, feet and face along with having problems breathing.  Ct scan showed growth across the board and fluid in the lungs.  Next day had fluid removed in one lung and the other lung will be drained next week.  We have an appointment next week with doctor to go over the scan and talk about options.  Wanted to know if anyone knows of other options that worked for them and if anyone has experienced the fluid build up in the lungs and what could be causing that.

Thanks

my husband gets fluid in his lungs too. They put him on sutent  all the time no time off 37.5 for almost a year. Then 1 mo ago he wasnt feeling good again so they up his medicine to 50mg,Hedoes feel better .The docters told us the sutent dries up the fluid ,he still has cough but not like before. He has stage 4 in his lung liver and spots on his bones. Dont give up hope they are comming out with new things all the time. Last Jan the said they could do no more for him, will they where wrong is back to work full time ,working over time too. Keep your faith and keep positive ,we live one day at a time .Things arent the same that we wher 3yrs ago but we just do what we can at a different pase. God will get us through this just dont be afaid to ask your docter questions and get another oppion maybe ther is a clinical out there ask about sutent. its a good one. Are dr told us he has other causes like this. Well i hope this helps good luck and god bless  i will be praying for you and your family .ann
