recurrant cancer

does anyone have sugestions on pain relief for rectal cancer morphine not helping.  My father also has renal problems.  The cancer has returned after 3 months

Where is the recurrence? This may have a lot to do with how to control the pain. But just off the top, have you tried Fentanyl patch? It comes in 25mg to start and can be taken with other pain meds at the same time. Ask your Dr.

I suggest you speak with hospice; they are amazing at controlling pain.  If your father isn't at that point yet, treatment at a pain clinic might be an option.  Another thing that patients often do is wait until pain starts before they take the meds rather than take the meds to keep ahead of the pain.
