My left tonsil has been enlarged for over a year now.  I have been to several doctors about various complaints but the tonsil issue has never been addressed.  My Mother was diagnosed with stage II tongue and throat doctor in 2005 and my Father passed away on April 21, 2006 of Small Cell Lung Cancer.  My aunt has stage III Breast Cancer.  I am seeing everyone around me that I know and love fall.  I am worried about myself now.  I do get the sore throat and constantly enlarged lymph nodes in my neck.  My Mother has been trying to get me to see her ENT but I fear what she may tell me so I keep puting it off.  Too many health concerns to address.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

You might want to see a gastroentrologist. If you have acid relux that may be causing your throat irration. Untreated acid reflux can lead to barrets esophagus and esophageal cancer. If you are having a hard time swallowing or feel as though food is getting stuck I would call my doctor right away. The gastroentrologist can scope you and do a biopsy to determine if you have a problem in your esophagus/stomach. Do not give up your search to determine what is wrong. Good luck to you in your search for answers. Please keep us updated.

Suggestions for a good doc in Atlanta?  I have had these symptoms described on this list. I am 46, female.  One month ago I started having a pain in one side of my throat..often intense...it doesn't last..it goes away.  It often will occur at night.  I have gastric reflux which seems to have gotten worse, too.  I take Protonix but still feel fullness in my lower throat like acid.  I smoke occasionally and drink occasionally and  these make the dot of pain feel worse.  I went to my GP and he felt neck, looked at throat but saw nothing. It wasn't too bad after I saw GP but now it's back.  I am scared it's psychological but the pain is for real. I saw a post somewhere that fibromyalgia can also be a cause?  I think I need to visit gastro or ENT...any suggestions for an understanding doc in Atlanta?  Thanks all. God Bless.
