Dad goes for results of 3rd scan tomorrow. Really Nervous!

Hi Everyone,

My dad has stage 4 CC with multiple lessions on his liver.  Tommorrow we go to get the results of his scan. The last 2 times they did a scan, it showed that the lessions are shrinking some from 3cm to 2 cm and his CEA went from 360 to 17 in July.  For some reason I am really on edge this time.  Not sure if its because they have not tested his CEA in a while so I don't have that to tell me that the chemo is still working.  I just hope they are going to give us some good news tomorrow.  I can;t sleep and I feel really nervous.  My dad still looks really good and works everyday.  The nurses always comment that he does not looks like he is fighting stage 4 cc.  Also on this scan it showed he had a clot on his lung and that scared not only me but my dad.  Is it common that Chemo will stop working after a while.  If that is the case do they try another combination?  Thanks for all your support.

hi christine my twin a has stage 4 cancer and yes after 6 months of chemo they did a scan and the chemo was not hgolding the spots at bay they were growing a little on her lungs and liver so now they started her on another mixture of chemo drugs.Inwas told that when yhe chemo stops doing it,s job they try the next one until they have no more.I,m sorry that is not what you would not want to hear but it is likely what will happen .My twin is also doing grat at this time so lets allhope they find something out there that will stop this all together.

I was on edge every time my Dad had a CT... that will never go away!  It is common for the cancer to become resistant to a drug at which point they switch drugs until there are no more to try... typically there are about three or four mixtures to go through... I hope the current drugs are still working for you and you got good news!

Hope you get good results on test today.  The waiting is so hard. The CEA going down sounds good. Mine went from 4000 in 2008 to 4 this past June. Is back up a bit to 11 now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Well we had good news in that the chemo is still working and the cancer has not spread anywhere else.  The waiting game is horrible.    Thank you for all you replies!
