Hi Everyone,

Hope things are going well for all of you.  My husband is taking Torisel chemo once a week (kidney removed 3/08 but mets to lungs  June 09 mets to brain-- did whole brain radiation and while recovering from that, he now had mets to his liver, removed kidney site and more in the lungs.  Tomorrow will be his 3rd treatment and he has been miserable........headaches, stomach aches, dizziness, ankle pain.......  Has anyone had Torisel this way and can you tell me about your experiences.  Does it get better?  I'm exhausted, he's mad at the world.  Any input would be gratefully accepted.        Bookmum Sue

Hi Sue,

my fiance has been on Torisel for 10 months, his only side was a very bad rash, nausa, and he did feel miserable at first, but that went away after a few months, along with rash calming down.... Have you discuss this with your oncologist ??  Torisel works very well on my fiance, it has stablized his lung and rib mets and he actually still working to keep him busy... He was d/x in Aug 08 and nephrectomy 1 yr the 17th of Nov, everything was taken from his left side, all comsume witth met's....

I know this is not simular to your experience, but i can tell with time things will get better, it's a waiting game with every drug, that they use for kidney cancer, Torisel is the only drug that doesn't have long lasting side effects, the body has to get used to it and also every drug out there works differently with with others bodies...

I didn't notice the date you put you problem in, but i hope this can releive some stress for you and your husband, please write back to let me know how you are doing...

Good luck,

Rebba

My husband had left kidney removed in Dec last year, has been on Torisel since January - he gets benadryl and an anti nausea IV along with the chemo, and this seems to keep the side effects in check.  Some weeks are worse - with rash and sore nodules on his body - but other weeks nothing.  I would hope they are giving these to your husband as well.  If not, they may help.  Best to you and your husband,

Jan
