My mom was told she had gbc in Nov 2008. Since she has had 3 surgeries, the last on Oct 1st.  Her doctors are wanting her to take a cemo pill called Xeloda.  Has anyone taken this pill for treatment and if so how did it go?  Please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

daughter in Tenn

I am sending this note as a test.  I wrote a reply a few days ago and see that it is not posted as it should be.

OK, well, I se that my test post worked.

So, daughter in Tenn, here I am again.  Yes, xeloda is a commonly used drug for GBC and it's a good one.  For me, the only side-effect was a low sort of unpleasant stomach ache that started after a few weeks and continued until I was finished.  i had radiation at the same time.  I also had IV chemo after the xeloda was done.  There are several medicines used for GBC, and it's important that you mom DOES have chemo and is followed by a major cancer center where gallbladder cancer is a bit less rare.

Please write again and tell us how things are going, and more about your mom.
