My CEA number was 1.4 prior to my surgery for colon cancer and my doctor is monitoring me by checking on my CEA number every six months. I will be having colonscopies every three years as well. I'm worried about my method of monitoring if my number wasn't elevated when I was diagnosed. I've written my doctor and the nurse called to tell me the information I already have. How is this an effective way to monitor?
