He is doing well. Epidural moved a bit...and isn't working like they would like, but their pain management team has been fantastic, truly. He has been walking a lot and coughing--doing those exercises. They took out all the nodes they could grab, they took a look at major organs, even found an old nodule on the lung we had followed for 2 years ten years ago...and it was, as we had been assured then, scar tissue. I love how thorough they are.
I am amazed how clean the cuts are and how well he is healing even on his second day. I love how they held our hands all the way through, updating me every 2 hours, the nurses from his floor came down to prepare me for his stay there--and how he would look, and all the procedures he had to go through the first few days.
The surgeon says that he thinks he got everything...and that he has never seen such a great case. :) Layne handled all his chemo/rad and even this surgery very, very well.
Thanks for all your input and those of you who have written me personally, all your sweet emails and concern. It means more than you can know. Now I just have to believe that we have won and live like that. :)
