TSH over 98!!!

Dearest friends and survivors..

I've just had my WBS today..Feeling lighter:) as everything was clear - save for a metastatic focus that has greatly responded to treatment...

My last ablation dose was in Feb this year, and my scan then, picked up intense tracer activity to my front, facial bone. Where the famed, mystical third eye lies? My TSH levels were at 98-point-something yesterday. My onco thought I would crawl into her office today, post-scan..And although it was bad...horrible...I found the strength to push forward, cook, drive, clean up after the kids, and try to function as normally as I could. Thankfully, I've been booked off work (I'm a teacher)..and after taking a look at my TSH levels today, my onco has booked me off for another 2-3 weeks. Bless her heart:)

I've drank mostly raw fruit and veggie juices and I'm convinced that this has been my saving grace during the HYPO HELL..

I read a book called Crazy Sexy Cancer and the author: Kris Carr gives a well..crazy, sexy outlook to cancer as opposed to the totally oppressive image it is usually associated with. Respectfully though, cancer IS horrible, awful, cruel...But with a good mindset, diet, outlook..Who knows??!

If any of you are going through hypo-hell (here in SA there's no thyrogen or cytomel to assist with symptoms), perhaps I can suggest you try to boost your energy levels with a good blended fresh fruit and veggie cocktail..

I really am not trying to preach here or convince anyone that what works for me, WILL work for them. I realise each has his/her own journey and I humbly respect and admire you for your courage.

I am hoping that perhaps my experience can gently help anyone feeling down and washed out. Yes, there have been days when I've felt as if I'd fallen into a pit..But one glass of liquid chlorophyll later, I'd feel so much better...

If you are keen read on:

1) Green juice: Kiwi, wheat-grass, cucumber, mint, green apple, grape, pear ...liquidize.

2) Red juice: Raw beetroot, red grape, strawberry, blueberry, mulberry, etc

3) Yellow juice: Butternut, oranges, melons, carrots, naartjies...anything goes!!!

If the taste is too awful, I usually dilute with filtered water or with store bought juices...

I have 2-3 glasses a day, and try to have at least 2 varying colours..

Please let me know what else has worked for any of you..This is a learning curve for me..and I hope to learn more and help more..

Humbly yours.

Light and love

Actually, I ate terribly, had a TSH of 99 several days before RAI and worked full-time until the day they gave me the RAI. I think it really hits people differently.:)

I have mixed feelings about Crazy, Sexy Cancer. A friend recommended that I get on their web site community. I had to withdraw because I was just going to scream -- between people claiming that the flu shot was poison, post-TT people using some kind of "herbal thyroid support" formula instead of synthroid or armour and wondering why in heck they were tired, and people claiming that RAI was worse for you than the alternative, it drove me bonkers.

One of the rules of the road for their online community was that everyone was on their own path, and you shouldn't give "pushy medical advice." From what I could see, it was only considered "pushy" if you advised someone to go with standard medical procedure. If you told someone that Western medicine was poison, that apparently wasn't "pushy."

I have no doubts that it helps to improve your diet, particularly when it involves more fruits & veggies, and I think juicing is great. Anything you can do to take care of yourself and support your body's healing is a good thing, in my book. I think it's great that this has helped you, jojo.

What worries me, though, is when naturopaths & other complementary-alternative practitioners and patients scare people off of using proven medical procedures. Thyca is no fun, but it's survivable -- when treated properly. I know you're not recommending that people forego treatment, but I think that's the kind of advice people will find if they delve further into Crazy, Sexy Cancer.

Please tell me if you have one of those fancy juicers...if you don't mind stating the brand, I'd appreciate it. Before this disease came down the road, I had a juicer, but it was so much trouble to clean, prepare, etc., that I sold it. I'd like to lose weight, too, so maybe juicing could help with that. I am having surgery in three weeks, so who knows what I'll feel like after that. Can you juice on the LID? If you can that would be a help. Also, what protein can you add to the juices? Thanks for your help. BJ1111

Yes, my TSH was over 97 as well -- it is hard to imagine.   I kept plugging along as well -- doing laundry, cooking, etc., although I was told not to drive.  I did cheat for a few short trips, but refrained from driving kids around.

Now, 3 months post RAI my TSH is still at 9.0 -- just had my levoyxl increased so hopefully it will come down soon.
