Question about the Cancer Treatment Centers of America

Has anyone gone to a Cancer Treatment Center facility and gone through their 10 week chemo-therapy treatment and all along you are being told that the cancer is getting better then at the 10 week mark they do some final scans and the word is that they have 90% of the cancer under control but need to do surgery to get the last 10%?

This is the situation my wife went through at the Philadelphia Center and feel that this is a standard line given to patients that in actuality have a terminal cancer but CTCA goes ahead and does an unecessary surgery just for the insurance monies.

This sounds harsh but I know at least one other patient, from the Pittsburgh area, had the same story told to them as it was told to my wife and myself. Please let me know if you know anyone that had a similar situation at any of the Cancer Treatment Centers around the United States.  Thanks.

my husband went to the ctca in Penn. in March and had 5 weeks of radation off1week then started chemo. He had very aggessive chemo. Three different kinds. His last visit there was June25,2009. We were told on that day that his cancer was better and he was stable. My husband got worse and was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital on July3. He was so sick and I called the center and couldn't get anyone to call me for 3 days. The doctors at Pitt said we were given false hope and could only keep my husband comfortable. He passed on   July 15. only 2 weeks after we were told he was better. Now my husbands insurance want pay because they say we were in a clinical trial and the doctor never told us.

So sorry to hear about your husbands passing. Where did he have his cancer? My husband has throat cancer and finished his treatments in April. He went back for another PET scan in Aug and was told that he still has some activity in the lower part of his throat. He goes in the hospital tomorrow for a neck dissection. Were praying that they get the rest of it.
