My husband has laryngeal cancer he will be starting radiation treatment. His doctor is pushing for him to get a feeding tube in before he starts his treatment. He does not want to get a feeding tube. The doctor tells him that he will not be able to swallow after three weeks. He does not have to get chemo only radiation can anyone give us information about getting a feeding tube.

Hi Leevenzia I had two members of my family on feeding tube, it's really hard to look at  but it's best to take your  doctor's advise. If your husband is fairly strong and depending on his age it will give him a fighting chance.  If not ask your doctor to be real with you as to what his outcome will be with of with-out the tube.  The tube will help him keep his nutrients up while he fights for his life.  Tell him do what ever it take to fight because life is precious the quality of life is even more precious. May the Lord bless you  I will put you on my prayer list.

Thanks for your information and your prayers. My husband has a appointment with the GI doctor tomorrow to discuss having a feeding tube put in. Life is precious so we will take one day at a time.
