I can't answer your question, but wanted to thank you for posting that another new drug has been approved.  I'll be interested in any responses you get for this.  My husband was on Torisel first, and it worked great for 8 months until the cancer started spreading again, now he's on Sutent.  CT scans due in a week...I hope it's still working.  After Sutent, I suppose we'll be trying Nexavar...it is great to know there is another option when Nexavar stops working.

I can't answer your question either, but here is another example of a drug company coming out with a very expense drug (will it cost thousands of dollars per month?) just to extend life for a few months.

We really need more research and funding into treatments that will provide a durable response or dare I say cure. Unfortuanately, I feel this will not come from the private sector where there is more motivation perhaps to maximize profit and turn it into a chronic condition rather than cure it.

We really should write our representatives in Washington to increase funding for cancer research. Do we really need another billion dollar attack ship when we have the largest navy in the world? Do irresponsible banks deserve billions of bail out money, or is your loved one worth more to you?Government needs to be more involved in fighting this scurge for the common good.

This of course are my views but bless you all in this struggle.

I am sorry about my venting. The drug companies do provide a valuable service to extend life and I am grateful for it. Every new drug that comes out to show some effect against this monster is better than none.

Its just that I am frustrated that quicker progress is not being made and perhaps my expectations are set too high.
