My 80 year old Grandmother just had a cancerous tumor removed from her rectum, they had to also perform a hysterectomy while in there because the tumor was attached to some lady parts. Its been four weeks now and she saying she's gets a pain so severe when she has to urinate that it makes her lose all control of her bladder, this pain also lingers for several minutes after she actually urinates. She has a colostomy bag and this is the only pain she complains of, has anyone or anyone you know experienced something similiar to this, if so is there an end to the pain for her in the near future? please copy and repost to spread this discussion faster

I had a similar problem. In my case, it was caused by irritation caused by the catheter I had in the hospital. My urethra was already sensitive because of the radiation. It hurt like hell for a few weeks, and was still sensitive for a couple of months.

Another possibility would be a urinary tract infection--something it's not hard to pick up in the hospital.

In either event, she should see her doctor about it.

Thank you for your response, however the pain was a very bad infection caused by a tear between the rectum and the vaginal wall as a result from the tumor removal. She is back in the hospital with tubes coming out of everywhere but stable...
