First Thyrogen Injection Monday

Hello, this is my first time here, just found this site a few minutes ago. I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma on July 27, 2009. They found it because it had spread to my lymph nodes and my neck was swollen. I had a complete thyroidectomoy and 27 lymph nodes removed on August 3, 2009, 1/3 of the lymph nodes were cancerous. My treatment has been pretty uneventful since the surgery, but I am due to start RAI next Wednesday and get my first Thyrogen injection on Monday. The last time I went to the endo there were two lumps in my neck that I pointed out to her and she felt them. She said it could be scar tissue but if it's cancer cells returning the radiation will take care of it. The fact that they're there scares me and so does radiation.

Any advice?

Hi, I'm new here too. My experience with my papillary cancer is a bit different, but just know that you are not alone. I have been trying a no sugar, no gluten diet (which sucks) but I do feel alot better. Cancer thrives in sugar, so hence the diet...

Good luck to you.

Hi. I didn't know that cancer thrived in sugar. I only have sugar in my coffee and have been on the low iodine diet for the past two weeks. I did stop using artificial sweetners, drinking soda/diet sodas. My primary told me doing a gluten free diet (considered it from reading eat for your blood type) wasn't necessary.

Thank you for responding and I hope you're cancer free soon!

Try using stevia instead of sugar if you are interested in not eating sugar...

It's a different kind of sweet, but all natural and you only need a tiny bit.

It's found in the natural food section of the store.
