My husband was diagnosed Signet Cell colon cancer in Oct 2008. He had a foot of his Colon removed. Had a pet scan everything looked good. His CEA number keeps going up. He has had 3 more colonoscpys. Nothing. Has had catscans everything is good. He didnt have any Chemo or anything. I have heard that it is a very aggressive cancer. Any ideas?

Hi its  strange  that your husband has had pet scans and  cat scan and his CEA is going up,   who told you that cancer is agressive?  You can ask for to see  scans  reports and you can ask for second opnion.

Be proactive when it comes to finding out why Cea is going up and with  his health..

So surprised not having chemo, why  not?? have they give you any reasons??

Ask  and Ask again and push for  chemo...

God Bless You Both   Best Wishes   Rob

Thank you Rob. By reading on the internet I found this to be a very agressive and rare cancer. They told us since the colon where the poloups were removed and it didnt get into the wall of the colon then chemo wasnt neccassary. I will have him get the scan reports and your right I think a second opinion would be a good option. Thanks again.

God Bless Karen

HI Karen,

Please do not believe what you read on internet, I know lots of people that where giving 6 months to live and they are still here after 5 or so years...

If tumour did not penetrate walls of colon, that is a good thing, but I still think he should have had chemo, I have never ever heard of any one not having chemo after surgery.

You really need to ask the Drs  straight questions,

Why no chemo? Did they get all tumour? why is Cea still going up? ( what is his cea count?) Did they check his liver and lungs with the Pet Scan? as that is where it normally gets to with colon cancer...

If not happy get second opinion, do not be put off and wait be very very proactive ...

Always be positive,,, expect the best but prepare for the worse,,, I know lots of people who have stage 1V cancer and still here fighting away after many years ...

 God Bless .........................Rob
