Our IL experience is over. Harrowing, yes, difficult, yes, labor intensive, yes. Worth it? OH YES. Would I do it again at MD Anderson...yes yes yes.
When Layne did have a few little complications, their teams were there to fix the situation asap, because they have seen these complications every day and know what to look for and prepare for. Nothing surprised them. They have one floor (floor 7) that is just for this type of surgery. They have nurses trained to care for you--ICU trained without you having to be in ICU.
Watching Daphne from the ICOR list come up and her surgeon come in--and that touching moment, reminded me why this place is so special.
From social services coming down when I was just spent to pain management teams coming in four times a day to make adjustments, to the nutritionist and nursing teams, we have been blessed so completely.
And of course, God did amazing work...He is a miracle worker, still today.
