Food and Tastes

Can anyone suggest what to eat?  Everything tastes burnt or like straw.  Have tried smoothies, steak, other meats, potatoes, noodles.  Nothing tastes good.
Am forcing food down and eating about the same amount as when I first got out of surgery 2 years ago.  Which isn't much.

Magic Mouth wash has helped the the mouth sores caused by Sutent.

Any suggestions of food with taste would  be appreciated.

Hi,

Also suffered the same problem with food in general. The best way around it i found was to keep it simple nothing over spicy but try flavoursome natural foods like vine rippened tomatoes, smoothies with say mangoes mayb something u would not always have. Hope this helps Bryan

My husband has been on sutent and is on his 4th round. He also has no taste for food. He has been feeling so bad with stomach problems and throwing up. There has been some pain. With the last 2 weeks on sutent he has experienced this but not as bad. Has anyone felt the same? Please some one give me some info, I am feeling a little worried.

I'm on my 4th sutent cycle.  I find that foods start losing their taste (or start having a metalic taste) part way into the 3rd week of each cycle.  Keeping the foods simple have helped me (i.e., cut back on the spices even when your tastes are normal).  I also find that sweet tasting food doesn't loose its flavor (e.g., pastries, pancakes w/syrup, fruit, ...)

We just got back from the VA.  My husband was extremely dizzy.  Turns out he was dehydrated.  They put two bags of fluid in him.  So....we now know and I wanted to pass it on to everyone DRINK LOTS OF WATER.

His mouth is still sore and it feels like the "food" is getting stuck as it goes down. He's on his two weeks off of Sutent and it's not as sore.

Sweets were a good suggestion, but it still hurts and gets "stuck".  Now he's drinking broth, Ensure and once in a while a smoothie.  He should be able to eat some of Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanks for all the info.  I think he's decided when he gets the catscan and sees his oncologist, he'll tell him that he wants to try something  else.
