Hi everyone - I am brand new to the CancerCompass, although I have been reading the message boards since the spring.
I had a TT in March 2009 and had endless complications after my surgery (bilateral pnuemonia, strep infection in the incision, cellulitis, hemmoraging of the muscles in my neck, a hole in my trachea, a burst artery at the edge of the incision). All said, I was in the OR 4 times over a course of 3 weeks. After a very lengthy recovery, I was getting ready for my wbs in July. I went hypo (not fun) and after preparing for the I-131 was told that I was still at 14% and needed further surgery.
In Oct 2009 I underwent a bilateral neck disection where they removed all of the lymph nodes in my neck and 2 slivary glands. I am now 12 days post op. For the first week I was very swollen and numb, so had very little sensation from my jawline to my collarbone. Now, I am starting to feel more and I have shooting pains from my jaw down to my incision. The skin around the incision also feels like it is on fire.
Has anyone else out there had a bilateral neck disection where they have felt like their skin is burning? Any suggestions on what I can do to take some of this pain away? I am still taking Tylenol No 3 regularily, but it doesn't seem to help that much.
Thanks!!!
