kidney cancer and born with one kidney

This is my story.  Husband was diagnosed in May 09 and told he had one kidney.  Stage 4 with mets to left lung and pelvis.  He had fluid in the left lung which had to be drained every 3 weeks and now has a pleurex cathera and the fluid is very little.  He started Sutent in June 09, had radiation for the pelvis, which shrunk the tumors.

He is now in the hospital because he is bleeding from the kidney, has blood clots and cannot urinate on his own.  He is on dialysis.  All the doctors will get together on Monday to discuss the next step.

This is quite unusual..being born with one kidney and having kidney cancer.  We need to find a doctor that has experience with this, although his doctors now feel that they can come up with an answer for treatment.

Does anyone have a similiar story.  I would appreciate your feedback.  Thank you and I wish all of you good luck with your fight and my prayers are for all.  Thank you.

I would talk to the kidney specialists at MDAnderson Cancer Center in Houston. I do not know where you are but are some of the best drs. in the county only specializing in kidney cancer. My husband was diagnosed in June 2008 and he is receiving wonderful care there. My husband also has a pleurex catheter in his right lung which we drain daily. Good luck to you and your husband and I hope you find the answers you need.
