I was wondering what supplements could be taken rather or in conjunction with a daily multivitamin for small cell lung cancer and info? I heard about essiac tea - what is this and is it toxic or could it cause harm or is it just like regular tea? Any info about nutritional supplements and nutrition would be appreaciated.

Hi Patricia,
When my husband was diagnosed with SCLC back in Dec., of 2000, I purchased a book called Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Phyllis A. Balch, CNC and James F. Balch MD. It's a Practical A to Z reference to Drug Free Remedies using Vitamins, Minerals & Food Supplements for all types of problems and cancers. I found it very interesting and helpful. I also plan on purchasing Dr. Kim's book, challange cancer and win. There is so much information out there. Just need time to research them all. Good luck and keep your faith. Anna

Hello, I have tried Essiac tea, and I think it is worth trying. I am also taking a number of other supplements - your multivitamin should contain some zinc. You can learn a lot about supplements and herbs from books written by survivors, doctors and nutritionists. One of them is Patrick Quillin's Beating Cancer with nutrition. I am currently reading Herbal Medicine, Healing and Cancer, By Donal Yance. I hope this helps, Joanna

Essiac tea consist of concentrated extracts of four common herbs which, combined and act synergistically, work to inhibit and potentially destroy growths and tumors. This formula stimulates antibioties and purifies the blood. promotes engery alleviates pain, anyone with cancer should take a look at this formula. The formula originated in Canada by the Ojibwa indians.

I am very curious about Essiac Tea. I have Multiple Myeloma. About 5 months into my therapy, my MM went into my liver and developed nodules there and on other parts of my body. My Dr. changed my chemo from Thalomid to Alerkan and Cytosin. Now that I'm slightly better, he wants to start me on Vincristin and another big gun.
Is Essiac Tea really worth trying or is it just a lot of hype? I would really like to know what kind of experiences people have had. Thanks.

Hi,
I found a book called Essential Oil Desk Reference from Essential science publishing. It talks about how oils work against cancers.
I have the book you mentioned and it is good too.

This response may be long out of date, but you could have a look at www.self-helpcancer.info. It's my research on dealing with a colon cancer. Hope you are doing well now. John
