I have recently been diagnosed with rectal melanoma. I have had the majority of the tumor removed and the doctors are now suggesting radiation. Since there is a "fringe" of malignant cells that could now be removed, I am wondering about having the radiation. What value will it be? If you have had a similar experience, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks.

The radiation is used to destroy any malignant cells that could be left behind after the surgery. Without it, the recurrance rate would be too high. I would definately have it done.
