Cryoablation

I had cryoablation of my prostate about 1 year ago. The size was 30 grams, cancer was determined to be contained, and the gleason ratingwas several 8's and one 9. They have just determined that my PSA, 1 year after cryoablation is 8 (it was 5.4 before the surgery) Thinking this was an anamoly, further testin g presented us with a PSA of 9. I have had a bone scan and a pelvic MRI, and no indications of metastis are present. Questions are: What is the initial success of cryoablation? and 2)Is it appropriate to try this again? I already have symptoms such as impotence and some incontinence, so further complications are not a major worry. Anyone have any ideas???

I have seen data that claim an 85-90% success rate for this procedure. In addition the long term success rate is almost as good as RP and a little better than radiation in low risk disease. You can repeat the procedure and in light of a rising PSA, that would seem like a good idea.

Thanks

Sorry to be so late responding. I have since (February) had a second cryoablation. PSA after 1 month was 28!! yes 28. Doctor thinks it is another anomaly. Wants to wait till June. I agree that it sounds like a trauma based anomaly, but i am also questioning the ability of my surgeon. Hopefull in San Diego.
