my sister has just undergone a hysterectomy and
was diagnosed as having both uterine and ovarian
cancer. The cancer was also found in one lymph
node and had spread through half the depth of
the myometrium wall. Any information on this
apparantly rare and aggressive diagnosis would
be greatly appreciated. I have already done
some reasearch and it seems that MD Anderson at
the University of Texas should definately be
considered an option. thank you for taking your
time to read and possibly respond to this post.
God bless, marnie

Dear Mamie, I am sorry about your sister and hope she is doing OK. You did not say how old she is. I am 73 and have a similar diagnosis. I had a lump in the inguinal lymph nodes and had it removed. at that time they told me I had "cancer of unknown primary". A few months later the tests found that the primary site was in the abdomen. I had a partial hysterectomy years before but they removed what was left of the ovaries and fallopian tubes and most of the oomentum. My Doctor said I had Peritoneal Carcinoma. I then had Chemo every three weeks for six times. I am glad to say I just had the last one. they tell me the tests show a great reduction of cancer cells. I am waiting for the final results of a CTscan to know the prognosis but I am hopefull. I did meet a woman who had similar cancer and was given two years to live but it is now SIX years and she is doing great. So I think a positive attitude helps. Sorry to have gone on and on but I do empathise and hope you will let me know how it is going for your sister. Regards Annie

My mother was just diagnoised with ovarian cancer just two days ago. Unfortunately, we do not know what stage it is in and I was just wondering is there any hope!!!!!! However, I feel like it is Stage 4 because it has spread to her liver and in her abdominal cavity. Please email me some type of information.

Thanks,
afraid daughter

I was diagnosed with stage3cmmmt ovarian cancer in october2005. Ihad debulking surgery and have completed 6 treatments of carboplatin and taxol. I have been told that i am now in remission. There is limited information of this type of cancer as it is very rare. If there are any one who has survived this type of cancer i would like to hear from you thanks.

Dear Mary,
Like you I had the same diagnosis a year ago. I was stage 4 as it had spread to the lymph node in the groin. I had tumors removed and debulking also 6 rounds of the same chemo as you. Then they told me it was "peritoneal carcinomatosis" which is rare but has the same type of cells as ovarian. I am in remission but I understand your need to learn all you can. I know that I dread a reoccurance. BUT I want to tell you about a friend who had similar cancer. She was only expected to have a year to live. It is now over six years and she is doing great!!! so that gives me hope. Keep a positive attitude, be good to yourself, and pray. Do you have supportive friends and family around you? Keep in touch. We need to help each other find the answers. Have you been on cancersurvivorsnetwork.org or pmpawarness.com . or other links.
All the best to you. Aycee

Hi Mary, I am a caregiver to my Mother who was diagnosed with Stage 3C MMMT in Mid-Feb.  I just noticed your messages from last year and am wondering how you are doing?  I hope that all is well.  My Mother was given just several months and we are thrilled that she is still here, doing well, just completed the 6 cycles of Carboplatin/Taxol and has a CA-125 which has gone from 1000 to 10.9 (as of yesterday).  Her next CT scan is is in a few weeks and we are PRAYING that things are good.  I'm hoping to hear good news about your progress.

Regards,

 Gardenia

Aycee,

I hope you are doing well.  I am a caregiver to my Mother who was diagnosed with Stage 3C MMMT in Mid-Feb.  She went through EXTENSIVE debulking and just completed her final round of Carboplatin/Taxol.  She's feeling great and her CA-125 went form 1000 to 10.9 ( as of yesterday).  I just went into some old messages about MMMT and found yours and others.  Your story is inspirational and I hope you are continuing to feel good.  My Mom was given only a few months, and we are just thrilled that she is still here and doing well.  I hope it continues.  Any information you can share would be appreciated.  Thank you!
