Hi. I just joined the site, my boyfriend's mom was just
diagnosed. We don't know what stage or if it has spread. She
is having further testing this week.

As the gf, I am in a tough position of not being a family
member, but closer than a friend. Any advice that anyone
would have for how I can help, how can I approach my bf, if I
should back off and let him come to me, anything at all.

Also, we are in Boston, and if anyone has had any experience
with doctors at Brigham and Women's, or anywhere else local,
please let me know. I would love any information, even any
books I should read.

Truthfully, I have no clue what to do. Three days, everything
was fine, now my bf might lose his beloved mother who is the
rock of his family. She is only 45. Anything anyone can
suggest would be so appreciated.

Thanks.

K.

Hey Kelly,

First thing you might want to do is get a detail CT scan of the entire body and finally the biopsy ( endoscopy). That will confirm on what the problem is. If it is cancer( God forbide) Please take her to a cancer hospital immediately. Then the doctors will start of with Chemotherapy and radiation or surgery of required.

And as long as its the relationship with your BF is concerned. This is the time he needs you. Don`t wait for him to come and approach you. instead you need to be with him. Remember life can be prolonged if the treatment is given on time and good diet. Me and my family will pray for her speedy recovery.
