My dad was diagnose with sclc in feb, 2005. The cancer was in both lung and in the nodes in his chest. Also his spine and adrenal gland. The first treatment helped and the cancer stopped growing and was actually smaller for about 8 weeks and when he had his scan, it was growing again. Since then he has been had two different chemo/meds. But his last scan showed the cancer is still growing and and he now has a tumor on his leg. The doctor says he used his best options first and the chemo options are dwindling. Does anyone have or had a loved
with small cell lung cancer that is beating the odds. If not, i would still like to hear from you.

note i have done so much research on small lung cancer -conventional cure sometimes need nutrition,as good cells are dying too -please go to web site on blue green algae=an entire article on what to take and to prevent and to shrink tumors -i really believe this works - cancer cannot survive - tumors - in an alkaline enviornment - this is true i believe -he needs to rid all acidity from his body.

I'am sorry to hear about your dad, my husband
Has sclc also, he is doing well but has not had it as long as your dad, there is a clincal trial
For sorafenib may stop the growth of small cell lung cancer by blocking blood flow to the tumor and by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. It is a pill you take twice a day.
It has been approved by fda for kidney cancer, i am not sure how sclc has responded but .cancer.gov/clinicaltrials identifier nct00182689 is being tested all over the country. If my husbands comes back this is what i hope he can try, rather than go back thru chemo i think because it is being tested in so many cancer centers that there must be high hopes for this drug.
Take care

Thanks for responding to my message. I am also sorry to hear about your husband. Has his cancer spread to any other areas? Or did they find it before it did? How long ago was he diagnosed? What are the doctors telling him?
I don't want to seem nosey, but i have never had a loved one with cancer and it is nice, although sad, to talk to someone in the same fight. I pray for your husband and for you.

Dear Hihopes, So sorry about your dad. My dad has sclc as well. It has spread to his lymph nodes and his adrenal gland but fortunately not to his brain or his bones. I mentioned on another message that my dad has been receiving naturopathic and homeopathic treatments orally and by IV for 5 days now. After just 3 treatments his tumor markers decreased and his immune system strength was significantly elevated. Quite remarkable. They are trying to arrest the development of the tumor, shrink it as much as possible and to prepare his body for chemo. The theory is two fold: By shrinking the tumor, he will require less chemo and by doing this first, the chemo will be more effective and give him more quality time to live after the chemo. It was explained to us that sclc develops a strong resistance to chemo after just a few rounds. And the few tumor cells that are left are almost immune to further chemo and it is those cells that multiply - creating more of the resistant cells - thus chemo is not very effective as a long term treatment - you have to make the most of it the first one or two times. We know it is not curable, but he wants more time and to feel better on a daily basis as well. I am optimistic that since your dad has lived for a year, my dad may get a year as well. One more summer, one more Birthday, one more Christmas would truly be such a gift. Talk to you soon, Lizanne.
