Leiomyosarcoma

Eight years ago I had most of my stomach removed after a leiomyosarcoma was discovered. I never had any radiation or chemo, and I haven't had any new tumors. I do get these tiny benign spindle cell lesions every couple of years that are said to be unrelated. I've had ones removed on my head, leg and stomach. I have one that's been on my head for a few years now as well as a new one on my head I just found. The one recently removed from my leg was finally reported as scar tissue, but it just popped up out of nowhere. All this seems strange to me, but my oncologist doesn't seem to think this is anything to be concerned about. Does anyone know what could be the cause of these spindle cell lesions?

Hello, I too suffer from this rare kind of cancer. You know what helped a lot? Registering on one Yahoo Group: LMSarcoma. The people there are patients and carers alike and they're on top of things. I bet they could answer your question. Love, Maud

Thanks

just found this old post and thought I would add new info. I had more knots pop up under the skin after all this time-two over a two year period, then almost another 30 in one month. Biopsy results revealed I have stage IV melanoma of unknown origin. Can't help but wonder if any of those knots I spoke about years ago was melanoma, especially the one diagnosed as a fibroma.

I think my cancer history and being in the clear for so many years actually worked against me-no one suspected I'd get cancer again, especially another kind. The subcutaneous melanoma tumors were dismissed as cysts including the first one about 2 years earlier. My chest pain and shortness of breath were dismissed as stress and overexertion even though neither applied. Eventually, I found out I had lung tumors.

I went to multiple doctors over the last two years and more recently the ER when one of them ruptured. I was told I had a ruptured cyst and the other five that popped up in the last week were also cysts or "benign growths".  I knew something was significantly wrong with me for at least a year before diagnosis. I prayed whatever it was would manifest, so it would be evident that I needed help. Unfortunately, it took metastasis before a correct diagnosis was made. Currently, I'm doing well on zelboraf, the Budwig diet, and eating lots of organic cancer/melonoma fighting foods.
