An unusual candidate I see from the stats, but what does that matter now. She has CT scan upcoming Friday. we are so nervous of the results of that now instead. I had thought the biopsy would have reveales stage but the doctor didnt say. I am suspicious. SHould I be ? Maybe now I'm more scared. Does the CT scan allow to dignose staging ? Praying. Thanks all

I had to have quite a few tests below I was staged. I had an EGD with biopsie that determined that I had Cancer. From there, I was sent for CT Scan with contrast, MRI, PET Scan, chest xray, and an upper GI Series were I had to drink the barium. After all the tests were completed, my surgeon opened me up and took a look at my esophagus and stomach. He then reviewed all of the tests results and then I was staged. The biopsies diagnosis was given to me on 12/31/03. For the next two months, I went through all of the tests I listed above. In February, I was finally staged and a treatment plan was determined after meeting with the Radiologist, the Oncologist and the Surgeon. I was 43 when I was diagnosed. From everything that I have read, this does not usually happen to women our age. But cancer of the esophagus and stomach are growing now and younger people are being diagnosed. I know you are scared, but you must remain strong until you get all of the information. Then you and your wife can discuss the best treatment options. Good luck to you and your family during this very difficult time. I am here everyday reading posts. Please feel free to write to me and I will try my best to answer your questions.

I saw your message and thought you might be able to answer some questions I have about survivors of stomach cancer. My daughter-in-law (32) is facing total stomach removal in the next couple of weeks. She is scared to death. She has two children age 4 and 3 months. Her pet scan didn't show any other tumors, but they will take lymph nodes during the surgery and test them for cancer cells. She is so scared about eating afterwards, she only weighs 115 lbs now. What were your experiences right after surgery. I would like to find someone positive and who is doing good for her to talk to. Thanks for any info.
