I too was just diagnosed with kidney cancer, my tumor is in the left kidney and is presently 3.8cm. I went to the uriologist who told me that when he was at the university hospital that it was nothing for them to schedule surgeries as long as 3 months out. I told him I wanted mine out immediately...needless to say I didn't get my wish, my surgery is scheduled for the 24th of this month. He tells me not to worry but the waiting is the worse thing I have been through. Well maybe the fact that they haven't had any test scheduled yet and I don't know if it has spread is also keeping me from sleep. I truely hope your husband has had his surgery and wish you both the best in recovery. God be with you both. shelly66

During the first week in January 2005 I experienced very painful urination with very dark blood in the urine. When the blatter emptied then the severe side and back pain also diminished. I was then placed on a medication to stop the bleeding and to control the infection.

My surgeon stated this was necessary as I could bleed out during the surgical removal of the left kidney, lymph nodes, one adrenal gland and kidney sac and that the medications were to stop the internal bleeding.

I had to wait 3 weeks post detection with a left kidney in full hemmorhage. Guess this is current medical practice everywhere to reduce liability costs associated with emergency surgery.
