Hi All,
Wanted to let you know I am 53 and have liver cancer since July 2004. Had 4 tumors. I had Taxol, and Carboplatinum for 4 treatments in 2004. CA 19-9 count came from 11500, down to 3500. Then had a chemo-embolization in Oct. 2004. The large tumor was on right side of liver and was 6 x 7 1/2 inches which took up most of the right side of my liver.
CA 19-9 came down to 350. Was on Gemcitibine till Jan 2006. Cancer got use to drug and count went from 600 to 2900. they found 4 more small tumors in my liver. Now on Monday I start Xeloda by mouth. 2000mg. twice a day. I will try to keep you all posted with the side effects and results.
I found out the best medicine is FAITH! Keep a POSITIVE attitude! Someone out there has it worse then you and FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! I know I am in stage 4 near 5 of this cancer but I live every day to the fullest!
New treatments are happening everyday!
Keep a winning and fighting attitude and you will go far!
God Bless you all!

Dear Tom and all,
My dx date is 6/6/03--cholangiocarcinoma.Had 12 trtmnts of Gemzar and cisplatin:June-Dec '03.
Then,36 trtmnts of RFT:Mar-May '04.Held the beast at bay 'til Oct.'05, then major weight loss, appetite loss and fatigue.A "specialist"
referred me to hospice---OUCH!!They were nice, and came to the house several times, but I/we had to "lay them off".My reg onco-doc said let's
try Xeloda. Now on my fifth course and HANGIN' IN.Hope, spirituality,GOOD family and friends and
PRAYER--keeps me 'on the right side of the grass'---DAILY.I am always curious and question-
ing for I know that WE must advocate for our-
selves.What I hear--almost daily--is what I heard early on:Cancer is NOT a sentence, it is merely a word.Amen...
Would be interested to hear from anyone who is or has undergone Xeloda therapy.
Keep on truckin' and
God bless
Tim
