You don't say whether you are interested in health insurance, life insurance, or long term care insurance. The best way to get any of these is through an employer; sometimes pre-existing conditions are covered through an employer plan. If you have been continually covered by a health insurance plan and have not had health insurance for more than 63 days, an insurer has to take you regardless of pre-existing conditions. Life insurance can be trickier, but you might be able to get it after you have been a survivor for a few years. I am an ednometrial cancer survivor, and was able to get long term care insurance seven years after my diagnosis (I didn't try sooner).
