My 18-yr. old niece, mother of two young boys, was just diagnosed with Uterine Cancer. I don't understand how it was not found before. She has a 15-month old and a 3-month old. The ultrasounds didn't see anything weird? The pelvic exam didn't either? Since this disease usually affects women after age 50, this is quite a shock. Anyone out there with similar circumstances. Thanks so much.

I was 37 when they found my uterine cancer through a pap smearin 2002. I had a partial hysterectomey & then 2 years later it came back. This time I had to get full hysterectomy with removal of gall bladder & appendix. I had to get chemo as follow up. I feel great now & have been cancer free for a 8 months. I have 2 kids (now 9 & 12 years old)& feel lucky. I had no symptoms but the follow up catskans is where they found it coming back. I wish her well.

My 15 year old was diagnosed with endometrial cancer in Sept. of '05.  It is a very long story, but the only way we knew for sure was that she had a D & C.  Three pathology labs kept passing on the tissue results because they thought it was impossible and unheard of.  It is sad, because she had to have a hysterectomy.  It is still painful for both of us.  I wish your niece the best of luck.

I was 37 years old when I was diagnosed with stage IIB uterine cancer. Yes, it is common in women over 50.  I had a ratical hystrectomy followed up by internal and external radiation.  I had no side effects from the radiation until 18 months after treatment.  I know deal with continues pelvic pain, bowel incontinence, and 5 different infections in the pelvic area.  The best advice is research all options before taking on treatment.  I would not change my treatment I just wish I would have been more informed.  In Oct. 2007 I will have been cancer free for 3 years.  Family support is major hang in there.
