I have been very bloated lately with mild abdominal pains. Have been taking Nexium every day for the past month. Do you think Nexium could cause this - I have never had abdominal problems before. Thank you.

Donna L. Please run to your doctor and get a CA125 blood test immediately. This test will indicate if something is going on in your body that needs attention. My wife was diagnosed in 08/04 with the same symtons you describe. It was ovavian cancer. After the operation I asked the doctor how long he thought she had the cancer and he said perhaps 3 months. You don't even have doc appointments that close together. My wife had abdominal pains and her then doctor said they were just cramps. If he would have only done this simple test, we wouldn't be where we are today. Please do this for yourself, your family and the people who love you. God Bless you and good luck.

Thank you so much for responding, I will make a dr appt and go from there. Actually the pains and bloatness has stopped since I stopped taking the Nexium. I wish you and your family the very best. I will say a prayer.

Sincerely,
Donna

Thanks for your reply and prayers. Please do not think that just because the pain subsided everything is OK. It is THAT important you follow up. Please let us know the outcome. Many people have been there for us and we want to be there for you regardless if is bad news (we will pray for you) or good news (we will rejoice with you.

I hope you don't think we are being a pain in the ***, but did you have your doctors appt yet?
Please don't put if off. It is extremely important you get a straight answer from the medical community. Ask for a CA125 blood test and
discuss the results with your doctor. Do it for the people who love you.
Peace

Hi,
Thanks for thinking of me, yes, I did go to Dr and she did a pap smear and did an exam of my abdomen. So far, thank God, things are fine. My bloatness and abdominal pains have diminshed since I stopped taking the Nexium so I'm thinking that was what was causing it. I hope things are fine with you. Please stay in touch.

Sincerely,
Donna

A Pap smear will NOT detect ovarian cancer. And a pelvic or
abdominal exam may not either. Many times ovarian cancer
cannot be manually felt. As the previous posts suggest, you
need a CA 125 test, and an ultrasound - preferably, a
transvaginal ultrasound. Please do not think you are in the
clear just because you had a pap smear and exam - about 80%
of the time, doctors miss this cancer, and lull patients into a
false sense of security. The CA 125 test is not a perfect test,
but at least it will be one more tool in the diagnosis. It is just a
simple blood test, and isn't real expensive. Please, if you value
your life, get it done. The bloating and cramping are two
symptoms of ovarian cancer. And usually by the time you get
symptoms, you are already advanced stage. So don't mess
around with this. I am not trying to scare you, but possibly save
your life.

It's been a while since we last communicated. Did you get a CA125 test done yet? I'm not going to harp any longer but if the doctor would have done a CA125 two months before my wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Paula and I, in all probablity, would have had to have entered Hospic Care last week. Please do it now. God Bless you
