My wife and I are on our 8th chemo drug since being diagnosed in 08/04. The latest drug - Adriamycin is making her vomit on average 3 times a day. Lot of odors trigger the nausea, sometimes drinking a liquid, trying to eat or just the odor of the plastic oxygen tube in her nose. We are on hydration this weekend but isn't stopping the vomiting. Has anyone else expierenced this? My wife has a very strong will and we both have vowed to fight til we don't have any more options. But this vomiting has got to stop quickley. The number of remaining drugs we can try is very low and we are starting to look at clinical studies. Any suggestions? God bless all of you who are afflicked with this disastous disease.

Jan T.,
Thank you for your caring words and praise God for your healing. We (my wife and I) believe that these symtoms are directly related to the last chemo treatment two weeks ago using Adriamycin. It seems not much can be done til the chemo has flushed through her body. I don't know how long that might be. We are trying things the doctors suggests plus anything anyone has to offer. We may have to go the hospital and do a procedure (I don't know the name of it) that would entail a tube inserted into her stomach or abdomin that would drain the fluids and would stop the vomiting. I don't know what to do anymore. We pray to God for healing and to stop the vomiting. We have lowered the fantanyl patch since one of its side effects is nausea and vomiting, but that will take time. My wife is a brave and determined person and she isn't giving up yet. What was (is) your treatment program if you c?re to share so that we may learn something.Thank you for your prayers.
Peace.

Hi Paula and Tom, Thinking of you today and hoping and praying that nausea has let up some. You do what you have to do I know. There is light at the end of the tunnel. You asked about my treatment. I had mostly taxol and then a combo of taxol and I am not sure what it was . It has been almost 10 years for me. I was diagnosed after my surgery (hysterectomy) at age 59. I had a lg. tumor on the liver that the chemo worked well on . The ovca had met. to the liver. The doctors were not giving me good news at all at the time but- the chemo seems to have done its job. So far so good. This ovca is very tricky stuff so you both just hang in there and keep the faith. I am checked all the time. I have blood test every six months now. And I am seen by the oncologist and gyn once a year. Of course previously I was seen more often . I have had no recurrence to date. Who knows for sure? No one has all the answers...not even the doctors. After being given 3-7 months in the begining or maybe with chemo. one and a half years....I would say I have done pretty good to be almost 10 years now right? Hope my friend always have it! Even if your wife gets down about it all, I know you will be there to lift her up. That is what is important. Been there and had to get tough with myself to fight back and that is what you do with this ovca. Surround yourselves with as much light hearted things as possible. Even good old funny TV shows. Always helped me. Good thoughts my friends. Peace and blessings.....Jan

Paula and I have won a small battle in the war on ovarian cancer. After a week in the hospital and many xrays, her slow-moving bowel (as one doctor put it) was full of stool. So whenever she ate, the intestine said there is no more room at the inn and pushed it back out. After some flushings and using stool softners, we are somewhat back to normal. We've been out of the hospital for about a week and only vomited twice. She lost alot of weight and we are trying to add it back on. We also decided to take a break from chemo (almost non-stop since 08/04 and 6-7 chemo drugs)and check out other professionals i.e., U of M, Karmanos, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, etc. Our little community put on a benefit last Tues nite at our church. It feels good to be loved by so many. Thank you for your continued prayers and thoughts. We will continue to pray for you also. God Bless You.

A note to let you know that Paula slipped into the hands of her Lord on July 5th in her home after a very hard-fought battle lasting two years. She never gave up. Thank you for your support and prayers. We were able to re-new our vows on our 27th anniversary, May 20th.
God bless you and keep you well.
Her ever-loving husband, Tom
