I read the terms of use of this message board. It says Cancer Compass 'advises against use of personal information' in posts. But if a person wants to post their email address so that another person can send them some information or continue a conversation, and does so willingly, why not allow it?

My brother is trying to share kidney cancer websites and other information with another person and email addresses have been deleted from the posts.

I can understand not publishing names, addresses, etc., but people are wanting to post their email so they can correspond with other cancer patients and/or those who love them.

Could you possibly allow the exchange of email addresses for those who voluntarily wish to do so, or explain to us your reasoning for editing them out?

Your suggestion is valid and a good one. We are working on ways to improve the communication process between members. One of the reasons we edit the email address is to promote communication through the message board. I feel these messages provide a valuable service to the cancer community.

If your brother would like to get in contact with another member, please click the contact us link at the bottom of the page and send us the screen name of the person he would like to contact. We will contact that person and see if they are willing to communicate through email.

However, I do recommend that he share his kidney cancer information through the message board so that others may benefit from his experiences.
