YES! My sister and I both currently have linitis plastica. I am 39 and she is 46. I am being treated by Dr.s at Stanford in California. They are familiar with this cancer and highly aware of the genetic potentil/aspects. I urge you to seek out a genetic oncologist especially if you have siblings or children. The gene which can cause this is called CDH1. I have an article on this if you have a fax # I can send it to. I would love to communicate more with you but don't have time right now.
Hang in there!!!!!

They removed your fax number, sorry my mistake. I will look to see where the article came from and give you that info. My GI Dr. is the one who gave me a copy originally. He had never seen anyone with this type of cancer and when I developed this type of cancer while caring for my sister who was very sick with it he immediately investigated the genetic aspects. I pray your sons father seeks treatment from someone who is familiar with this cancer. This is an agressive cancer. Agressive treatment is a good thing and being your own advocate is also important. My sister was not pushy in getting treatment in our town and even a university hospital in Sacramento California was not agressive in treatment with her and her road has been extremly difficult to travel. The article was written by a Dr. Vanessa Blair MD From the New Zeland HDGC Group and University of Auckland. The article is called Identifying and treating Individuals at high risk for stomach cancer.

I am trying to find the article online. I am new to these boards. Not sure if we can give emails but I will try. --- Message edited by CancerCompass staff: for personal protection, email address removed. If this goes through, email me and I will give you my fax number or address. I pray you and your sister are doing well.
