I miss being able to walk on my own
I don't miss the feeling of being alone
I miss having hair on top of my head
I don't miss lying in that hospital bed
I miss pursuing my education
I don't miss going through radiation
I miss having beers with some of my buddies
Even if it sometimes hindered my studies
I don't miss the sickness I have to feel
When taking the drugs that are helping me heal
I miss chasing girls at the bar with my boys
But now I cherish the simple joys
Like a soft summer breeze
that blows in the trees
I miss playing sports, its just not enough
Just watching on TV can get really tough
I miss having fun with all of my friends
But I know there is something which God intends
He has a plan for every boy and girl
Man, woman, or child in this great world
Some may not believe me, or like my next line
But I've seen plenty miracles in my short time
I'm writing to those who may have lost hope
and are looking to find a new way to cope
I have one final thing before I depart
Read this prayer and take it to heart
When you're feeling down and think its not fair
Here's what to say: a wonderful prayer
"Lead me, guide me, in this fight
Give me courage, strength, and might."
Keep fighting the fight so you outlast
Now let's band together and kick cancer's ASS.

I hear people say God answers prayers, hear people talk about how their faith get them through, hear people talk about the great mercy of God...

In less than one year two beautiful loving relatively young dear friends of mine died of cancer, another has stage four lung cancer that is metastized to the brain...can we say dead woman walking?  My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago...the woman in her body now is not the woman I married, her life and mine with it forever changed, and not in a good way.

Trust me, God is not all he/she or it is talked up to be...if believing he is going to come down here and make this all go away, is going to perform a miracle and make it all better makes your own journey easier for you then keep believing that fairytale.

Kicking cancer's ass_when people wake up and realize it is the US EPA, the NRC and other federal agency failing to do their job of enforcement, when people realize industrial production and the contaminants it dumps into our environment is causing our cancer, maybe there will be a paradigm shift, maybe people will learn to live with far fewer material possessions, thus decreasing the demand for products that in their very production sentence some of us to a death by cancer that a miracle can be found, and in that miracle, the elimination of most of the cancers we see.

hey daddypops i agree fully with what you have just posted. i wish i could express my feelings as well as you did. i can't believe ,never have and never will...

i have a dead man sleeping on my lounge. i could put him into his bed and not be able to see him, but at least i have him near me. i can still hear him breathing and can count how far apart his breathing is. i will not let him go that easy..we tried to kick ass. but wasn't meant to be..

maybe i will have another 24 hours with him . maybe just another few hours...yes we all have a lot to answer for all our material possessions, lifestyles, expectations ect ect. i could go on for hours . just hope a cure for all cancer's will happen one day soon. too many good people are being touched by this nasty nasty disease....

Hey Jude...great song, great reference point on where in the great time line of life you come from...take a sad song and make it better, remember to let her into your heart...

((((((hugs)))))))

Not sure I would go so far as to say I do not believe, but at best I am ambivilent, at worse, if God has a divine plan, it is a pretty CRAPPY ONE.  I know a lot of folks on this board hold their faith near and dear too their hearts, and if it provides them comfort, who am I too rain on their parade?

Remember the say the music died...I know right where I was when John F. Kennedy passed into the great beyond, and would love to ask what good was found in that, how that national tragedy played some part in God's great plan. Martin Luther, Robert F, and lets not forget even John Wayne, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and of course John Lennon on that list of questions I would like to ask God about.

A dear friend we met at Sloan Kettering fought a good fight...she died at just past 30, never even got to live her dream of having a child.  Our dear friend from camp John passed away from cancer just a week ago this past Friday leaving behind a beautiful wife, now a widow and for what? A Ipod touch, and a new car in some over paid politicians driveway?

I hope your 24 hours turns into 48, and 72 after that, and on and on...fight the good fight not for God, but for yourselves, cherish every moment you can have with him, and know you are not alone.  As I right this, hear the lyrics in my head..."and now the time is near and as I face that final curtail..." Frank Sinatra

May the angels in heaven watch over you two in your slumbers.

Daddy Pops

I never said God will come down and heal all cancer patients. But in my life I have seen plenty to know miracles happen. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer while she was pregnant with me. It quickly spread to her brain, liver, bones, and and lungs. Upon my birth she was given less than a year to live. Now 20 years later, she is still alive and fighting.

I was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer of my spinal cord. It has taken away the use of my left leg. My chances of living past one year were small, however, I feel just as good now as I did before I was diagnosed.

I know not all prayers are answered, but the will never be answered if you don't try. I thought this site was for hope and help, and if my story helps one person or family I will feel like I've done something good.

As said in the movie Shawshank Redemption, "Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." All patients have to have hope otherwise what is the use of fighting.

I'm not saying you have to find hope in God, but I am saying you should try to hope in something in this world so it can help you through your tough time.

CollegeKid...keep on fighting your fight the way you do!! Your spirit is amazing and is such a huge part of your journey.  While there will be tough days, as we all have, do your best to see the blessings around you, even when things get heavy.

Hang in There and Keep on Hoping!!!!

Matt
