What to do With Unused Nexavar

My father was not able to tolerate Nexavar so we had to take him off it. However, the timing was off and I received a full month's supply after he stopped taking it. Despite the fact that not only is the bottle sealed, but the Express Mail envelope from the pharmacy is still sealed, the pharmacy would not take it back. Now I'm out $5,900. Does anyone have a suggestion of what I can do? I'd prefer a private sale for half price, but would consider donation if all else fails. Thanks, Art

In some states, returning drugs in sealed containers to a central dispensary is allowed, but most outlaw returning them, which is, in my mind, a crime. Sometimes you can find someone who needs it online, but understand that a private deal is illegal. Occasionally, a sympathetic doctor or nurse knows of a patient who needs it and is having trouble paying.

My husband is on his fourth month of nexavar but we applied to the reach program thru bayer to get the medicine because medicare and insurance would not pay for it. I can not believe they would not take it back. What cancer center do you go to. We go to m. D. Anderson. I think you need to pursue this. Also what kind of side effects did your father have? After only 7 weeks of nexavar my husbands tumors shrank 10%. He has three in his pancreas and one in his intestine. He did have one in head but did sterotatic radiosurgery in 2004 and it has not come back. In 2004 he was diagnosed with cholangeocarsconma and had half of his liver removed when we went to m. D. For treatment and they found the return of kidney cancer that he had in 2000. He also had meliganant melanoma so needless to say the nexavar has been a blessing and we have also had side effects but talked with some of the people in the trials and they gave us some things to do. If we can be of any help please let us know. Bwells

Dad has been on it 4 pills per day since the 10th. He has renal cancer that metastisized to the lungs. Now he has developed huge blisters on the bottom of hes feet, like chemical burns? Can't walk. Not just an irritation or rash or just sore feet although his hands are showing signs of some redness. The Dr. stopped the pills for now. Has anyone had this? If so what was the treatment for it? Thanks for any input. Mimee
