My dad has stage IV cancer. He is throwing up mostly everything he eats. Also, he is throwing up mucus as well. Is this normal? Is there anything we can do to help stop this. How can he get better if he is throwing up everything. It's ALLt he time. Throughout the day AND night.

yes, throwing up often during the day and night is a common symptom of having stage 4 stomach cancer.  Do you know what type of stomach cancer your dad has?  If it's genetics, get tested.  Also, it doesn't hurt to try the budwig diet if he is still able to eat.  Budwig diet is a combination of flaxseed oil with cottage cheese or yogurt.  You can find more info at cancertutor.com   Good luck!

Hi Stephanie!

Totally normal and that was my only symptom when I finally got tested.

The only thing that got me thru the nausea and vomiting was smoking pot. I am not a proponent to drugs in any way but it took away the nausea immediately. My oncologist even told me that he could give me a pin but the real deal was still the best thing.

Can he qualify for medicinal marijuana? I am telling you it works. Even gave me the munchies so I ate more  :)

Best of luck to you both...

Mel

Hi,

My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer last may 2010. He was throwing eveything he was eating. Has heavy anal bleeding, no appetite. Lost lot of weight. Luckily it didnt spread. I have one advice for you. Let him do all the conventional treatments but do your homework to help him with natural remedies cos it helped my dad. It all comes down to the fact that your dad's ph level is very acidic right now. Avoid all acidic foods and keep only high alkaline foods. Also go get him a lot of vitamins and minerals. I liked the ones in powder form that my dad would just mix with water and drink so it would be easy on his stomach. I went through hundreds of websites to learn about herbs and vitamins  for dad. Your father did a lot for you. It's your turn to help him. Good luck. If you have any question, i will be glad to answer.

My husband has stage IV stomach cancer and he is doing the same thing.  Like you I very worried becuase he cant get better if he dont eat and keep it down.  There are days that go by and he eats absolutly nothing at all. Does you dad do that? He says that his esphogus and throat are sore from throwing up so much.  Im so afraid that he's starving himself.  Oh and the dr prescribed the marinol pill (marjuania) for my husband and it didn't help.  It did give him the munchies but he threw it up.  We never tried the real deal. Did you?  Let me know if yall found anythign that woks i'm willing to try anything.

Your husband should go on TPN (a bag of white liquid with vitamins that your husband is lacking via port on the chest).  The vitamins your husband lacking is determined by blood tests weekly.  He would need a prescription from the doctor though.  He would last a bit longer but it would also feed the cancer too.

My daughter is on TPN and I thought for sure this is feeding the cancer, not just the rest of her body.  cancer loves sugar, or so I heard.  What is the alternative?  she cannot keep anything in her stomach, they have a drain for it too.

Stephanie, how is your dad? My husband just started the same symptom - vomiting mucous, bile, continuously round the clock. He could not keep down anything, even water irritates him. We spent 4 days in the hospital. They did not tell me why. Only found more growth in his lung. He is advance stage pan cancer mets at liver, lung with liver abcess and abdomen ascites. From the listing it looks like the cancer might have spreaded to esophagus and stomach. A few weeks ago he complained burning sensation when taking certain pills. I am so worried that he is not eating. He is using a lot of pain medication, plus zofran, reglan, simethicone, thum, stool softener. I can try Budwig diet but he could only take less than 1/2 cup. Now I'm not sure if it will stay in his stomach after eating. Would colon cleansing or detox do any good?
