My husband, who is 48 years old, was diagnosed in March, 2005 with Stage III stomach cancer. He had a partial gastrectomy and started chemo and radiation. Shortly after beginning those treatments, he had extreme complications and ended up with sepsis. The doctors told us he wasn't going to live and we said our good-byes. He recovered from the sepsis (much to everyone's surprise),but it was much later before he could complete his chemo. We were told to expect the worst, since the cancer had basically gone untreated after the surgery. Well, it's been just over a year and his latest tests show NO reoccurrance of the cancer!! We know it could still come back at any time, but going over a year without reoccurrance is a huge milestone for us. I just wanted to spread the good news and tell others to hang in there.
