I Am Still Here

I had brain cancer removal on April 2003. It was stage #4 and I was told that I might not make it 10 months. I am still here!
I had an excellant surgeon, who I still see every six months.
I have a lot of memory problems that can be very frustrating and convulsions that have come on me in the last six months. But so far NO Brain Cancer!!
I guess, I would like to learn more about what to expect. I know that there is a small percentange that have made it to five years so I don't know what to expect. Can someone help me with this?
As I am sure, most of you have gone through, as I have, family members that will not accept your problems. Do not understand why you cannot remember things. It can really hurt feelings and make it very frustrating.
Help would be appreciated

Thanks for the good news. I was diagnosed April 2006. Large tennis ball tumor removed, but they had to leave some in the brain. I'm doing well. No seizures...but some short term memory loss. I have 3 more weeks left in my first round of chemo (temodar) and radiation. I'm doing very good....back to working half days. You have given me hope. I thought people lived only a year or maybe two, but your recovery is inspiring. Thank you so much!

I think sometimes, that all of my family and friends get so upset with me because I laugh and am so happy about everything. I enjoy it all, even the very simple things.
I am glad that you got to go back to work. When my tumor was removed it took my memory part with it. I think if I made it to work, I probably would not remember where that was and what I was supposed to be doing! HA!
When cancer happens to people it can really set you back, but I believe that a happy attitude makes us go on and enjoy life and makes that life last a lot longer than we were told!

You guys are great GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR SUCH GREAT ATTITUDES. It is so good to get on here and see such positive results.

I'm 15 months on June 7th...still goin and bloin!!! Couldn't have surgery and am almost "normal" whatever that is. Temodar has kept me "stable"...but i'm a horse and ready to run....GOD AND LIFE IS SOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD.

Hope that you can continue for a long time to enjoy your life!

here s what i do with me mum...i never ask her things about yesterday or earlier i always live in the future and tell stories about the day it keeps her going and going...you are amazing to be where you are....my mother seemingly doesnt have any pain but still knows every one but wouldnt remember if i was there an hour before but always will know me....ive researched and have many answers more than you will want to know....let me know...say when...norain.

Sounds like you have your hands full with you Mom, but please try to be patient with her.
Memory is sometimes the worst thing to deal with.
It runs me crazy sometimes, but I have to laugh and go on. I think everthing out before I try to say it, but when I open my mouth it is gone! Yuck! HA!
I would like to know more about your Mother, if you want to. Sometimes it helps to get it off your chest.

Garland how can you keep an appetite? I finished up kemo and radiation last month. My MRI looked ok by the DRs word and sliced pickels 3 times a day has help me with keeping the trash down. I do love food,but for now I have no interest in eating. A normal day eating for me since kemo and radiation would be half bowl of oatmeal or 1 boiled egg for breakfast,lunch is nothing,supper would be cellery pieces or some kind of veg. I do drink alot of water and juice.

Lost my taste almost completely for awhile - discovered fruit smoothies made with yogurt and love by my gal work great. Nutrition is good, easy to go down and for some reason, I could kind of taste them. You can mix the combinations of ingredients up for variety.
