Hello Doris,
It sounds like we are experiencing the same kind of recurrence and that we are being treated in a similar manner. I don't have any answers and feel discouraged...My doctor just acts like this is all "normal" and seems to think I should accept it. I'm having a difficult time doing that. I am also on Zometa, a bone-building drug along with Femara. I ache a bit and have pains now and then and never really know what's going on...How often do you have tests? What tests do you have? What does your Doctor tell you? Does he ever tell you how long it will take for the cancer to become unmanageable or how long the treatments might last? I know they don't have answers, but I really get tired of not being told anything. Please share more of what you are experiencing, I feel very alone in this.

Hi,
I have also been diagnosed with breast cancer that has metastasized to my bones. This was after almost one year of telling doctors that I was experiencing pain at various points of my body. I have never heard of the drugs you mentioned. I am on six months of chemotherapy, but has not been told what the chances of my surviving this are. The chemo keeps reducing my white blood cell count so much that I have had to put off treatment twice.
How did you find out about this stage of the cancer and what are the chances of survival with the drugs you are taking.

Hi Faye,
Saw your note on the MyCancerCompass message board. I was on chemo for 6 months to begin, and then went to the drugs I mentioned. I have a great cancer doctor that is up on all new drugs, I have just now started on "Femara" which is suppose to be helping the bones and the pain, also an injection every month to help me. I do have a treatment every month of Zometa, which helps the bones. Your doctor should be aware of these new drugs, mention them to him. I will be praying for you, for I know how depressing one can get. I am in the IV stage and I know that is not good. My blood count went down also and they gave me injections for this, hope your doctor is doing the same. Stay in touch. Write me and God Bless!! Darcie

Breast Cancer Spread to Bone...also on Zometa and Nevelbine

I have a message posted Dec 12. I have breast cancer spread to bone. It was caught as it was restaging into stage 4. They have me on Zometa and a very small shot of Nevelbine. They stopped my nevelbine after it made my white blood cells bottom out. They don't tell me much of whats going on either. I kept having pain in my leg for a long time, & when the bone scan/biopsys came back positive some of the black spots on my bone were STILL being called arthritis!!! Im tired of dealing with these educated idiots. When I remind them They were NOT in the very 1st bone scan, they are silent.Im not sure whats going on. I will soon be walking with a cane. I will probably have to get a 2nd opinion, too. I have changed my diet to alot more fruits and vegetable & it works. I was taken off Arimedex because he says it wasnt working. Will post more later. My mother in-law is currently taking Femara for
her breast cancer metastasized to bone. She is
really having a rough time with it, she can't
eat, she's nauseous all the time. Has anyone
else experienced this? Can you provide any
advice or tips?
