Hi my name is Kim. I am 40 and found out a few months ago that my breast cancer has spread to the bone. My first diagnosis was in 97 with stage 2 breast. I had a right side mastectomy with chemo. It came back in 02 and I had chemo and radiation. Now it has went to the bone. I am on zometa and femera and a lupron shot every 4 months to put me in menapause. I guess im looking for survivors. I have two disabled children and it scares me to death to leave them. I need some hope that people can live with this. I go this tuesday to get results from a pet scan to see if this treatment is working.

Kim, I'm 43 and your story sounds exactly like mine. I was just dianosed with secondary bone cancer. I'm a mess, and looking for people living with bone cancer. Doctors are giving me Zometa, hormone treatment and radiation for pain. They will save more chemo if this doesn't control the spread. Maybe we should keep in touch and hope someone can help us through this. Kate --- Message edited by CancerCompass staff: for personal protection, email address removed. Kathy, thanks for the response. I was just recently diagnosed with the bone mets after going through the whole breast cancer treatment in 2004. Our treatment sounds very similar, and I have a 13 year old. I'm suprised your working full time. Wow! i Have Advanced Breast Cancer Spread to The Bone

Hi Ladies, I am Nancy and i just found this message board. I am 54 with a primary of Breast Cancer and now have metastatic Bone disease. I was first diagnosed at age 31 and had a partial mastectomy and radiation. It had not spread to my lymph nodes and chemo was not reccomended. At age 50 I had a second lump in the same breast. All i had was a lumpectomy... and no other treatment. That was my choice and probably not a wise one. Two years later I had a scattering of tumors in my right hip/pelvic area. They did radiation and it helped alot. I have no sign of the cancer in that area and no more pain. They started me on an estrogen blocker femara and monthly infusions of Zometa. About a year passed and the cancer showed up in the bone of my left shoulder. I had radiation again. Those treatments were completed about two months ago. I have since been anemic and my white counts are dropping also. I had a CT Scan and that was clear. I have been having shots of Aranesp every two weeks. My oncologist is suggesting i start chemo. He is supposed to be calling me as i just saw him yesterday. He said he would start with pills but i dont know what kind yet. I still feel good and do not have much pain other than achy every so often. I too am hoping to live and have a decent quality of life. I am a Christian and am trusting the Lord. Glad i found you and hope i can give and receive encouragement from those who are living with this dread disease. Nancy

Hi Kathy, you may have read my post to Kim. I am living with metastatic bone cancer. I have been on Zometa and femara but was switched to Aromasin almost two months ago. I have had radiation on one hip and the opposite shoulder. My oncologist is now talking about starting chemo by pill to start with. My counts since my radiation on my shoulder have been dropping...both white and red. For the most part i still feel pretty well except i tire easily. I am not looking forward to the chemo pills as i am afraid i will feel sicker. I cant give up though i have a wonderful husband, two adult kids and beautiful six month old grandchild. So the saga continues and i put my trust in the Lord. I am 54. My mother died of Breast Cancer at age 44 and my sister has had it also. I was first diagnosed at age 31 and was clean for 19 years before it came back. Nancy
